Game 35: Orioles 6, Mariners 5

The Good: * Corey Patterson doubled and homered, and also threw out the potential tying run in the top of the 9th to end the game. It wasn't a great throw, but Wieters did a nice job blocking the plate and was able to catch it to his right and quickly apply the tag on his left. Very exciting ending. * Ty Wigginton went 2-3, plus a walk. * Luke Scott singled, and also hit the game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the 8th. Two home runs in two days for Luke. * I got to see Alfredo Simon pick up his 5th save in as many chances, and share with my friends his awesome nick-name. Shutdown Sauce was shaky - hitting a guy, walking another, and giving up a single - but his ERA still sits at 0.00 and the O's finished with a W. The Bad: * Kevin Millwood was decent most of the game - 5 K's to 1 walk - but you can't give up 3 home runs and expect to win most days. Especially when you're getting taken deep by the likes of Mike Sweeney. He got his seasonal ERA below 3 for a while, but ended that day with it at 3.88. * Adam Jones went 0-4 with a pair of strike-outs, and Rhyne Hughes K'ed 3 times with a single mixed in. Not that facing King Felix is the easiest thing in the world though. The Final: The O's offense couldn't get runs on the board against Felix, but as soon as he left the game (up 5-1) the offense came alive and put a five-spot up in the 8th (capped by the homer by Luuuuuuuuke, of course). The 6-5 victory gives the Birds their 11th win of the season - as well as their second series win. Edit: Bask in the awesomeness of the win expectancy graph.
