Game 156: Orioles 4, Rays 0
* Brian Matusz had perhaps his best game of the season, mowing through the Tampa Bay line-up. Final line; 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 8 K. Plus more groundballs (9) than flyballs (6). It was an excellent performance, and though Matusz probably won't catch Austin Jackson in the AL Rookie of the Year race, he's got a very good shot of ending up as the top rookie pitcher.
* Jim Johnson pitched a perfect 8th inning, and Koji followed up with a 1-2-3 9th in which he struck out the side. That gives Uehara 50 K's in 41 IP this year, to only 5 walks. It's always nice when a player rewards you for not abandoning him.
* Nick Markakis went 2-5 with a triple, and Luke Scott added a couple hits and a walk.
* One would have liked to see more than the single walk, but that's so normal for the team that it's hard to complain to much about it in an individual game (where they win 4-0).
The O's only need one more victory to avoid 100 losses, and 3 more to actually improve on last year's record. I didn't expect that a couple months ago.
