The Orioles enter today's game against the Reds after dropping a series to the Pirates on the road. Hopefully coming back to Camden Yards can help bring the O's to a victory to start this 6 game home stand.
The Reds come off a series loss to the Yankees in Yankee Stadium. Tough lineup to pitch around, with good hitters abundant in this lineup. The reigning NL MVP bats third and the strong lefty Jay Bruce bats only two spots behind him.
Volquez has been very disappointing for the Reds this season. Though he does strike out a hefty amount per nine, his BB/9 is atrocious. Not helping himself out.
Balances his pitches well, and has a hard fastball along with a good hook. He needs more whiffs on the sinker, however, if he wants to be more effective.
Blake Davis gets the start at 2B and hits last in the Orioles lineup. The top of the lineup looks to keep the O's afloat, with J.J. Hardy tearing it up in June and Nick Markakis looks to start turning it on.
Jakubauskas enters tonight's game with below-average numbers. His K/9 total is too low for his BB/9 total to be as high as it is.
Mainly sticks to three pitches (had a very small percentage of cutters and two-seamers, both under 1%). Doesn't get much movement on his fastball, which is why his whiff count is so low. Pretty decent change-up however, that's his main punch-out pitch.
